That would be my day in a nutshell. But I did manage two more Mother's Day cards today.
Perhaps because all of the Mother's Day cards I made for family last year were vintage, I've been trying to do something different this year, but it seems that is way out of my comfort zone these days. So, back to vintage for these cards.
Vintage label by Purple Onion Designs, the words are from a multi-occasion set that I picked up at one of the chain craft stores, but none of the stamps has the company name.
For this one, I used a Tim Holtz faux-enamel technique that I love, although the results today were so-so. The mustard panel was made by brushing a piece of white card stock with Mustard Seed Distress Ink, applying clear embossing powder, flicking the back hard to remove some of the powder and then applying heat. Once cool, I sponged the whole piece with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, getting the ink into all the crevices and then wiping it with paper towel.
I also applied Mustard Seed, Tea Dye and Shabby Shutters to the paper flowers, which started off white, to give them some color and a more vintage feel.
The next card is pretty self-explanatory, I used reproduction & real vintage elements, but I wanted a prettier rather than distressed or shabby look.
Speaking of Purple Onion, if you've seen earlier posts, you know how much I love her stamps. She's having a great sale this weekend only in honor of National Scrapbook Day. Her alphabet plates are 40% off!! She's also having a giveaway, so stop by her blog as well.
Hope you're enjoying lovely spring weather where you are-see you tomorrow with some birthday cards.
