Hi All,
Welcome to my post for Vintage Thingie Thursday which is also a little peek into my creative space. I'll be sharing more of that on Saturday for Karen Valentine's phenomenally huge blog hop, Where Bloggers Create II.
Today I am showing off a child's roll-top desk that originally belonged to my maternal grandfather. We don't really know anything about where the desk came from or exactly when it was made, but my grandfather was born in 1898.
I have loved this little desk since my butt was small enough to fit in that chair. When my mother was little, she thought it was her desk since she could always remember having it.
Now, this is storage for all the cards I have made so far this year for the Christmas Card Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. Usually I have a little display on the top, but I was hoping that the painter would make it here this week. One of the annoying things about apartment living, I have absolutely no control over that.
As you can see, the writing surface of the desk (which is missing its blotter) pulls out. When she was little, my mother remembers using this as a lap desk when she was sick in bed.
And this is my grandfather, George Washington Smith.
OK, so head on over to Suzanne's blog to check out all the other entrants for the week. And don't forget to come back Saturday for Where Blogger's Create II.
